Ken Davis

Ken Davis is the associate vice president for facilities management and operations at South Carolina State University. Davis is responsible for providing supervision, direction and leadership to the Facilities Management/Planning & Construction staff, to include maintenance, custodial, grounds, campus architect, and project managers.  He ensures the facility is operated in a safe, reliable, and economic manner consistent with site operations and maintenance plans.  Create a more flexible and productive environment, and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the management  team to ensure appropriate skills are maintained and personnel are qualified for the activities with which they are being asked to perform.   

Davis serves on multiple university committees, and provides support with event coordination and emergency response. The AVP maintains a good working relationship with the Office of State Engineer and other regulatory agencies to include The Commission on Higher Education, the Budget and Control Board, and SFAA

  • CPMM Certified Professional Maintenance Manager from The Association of Facility Engineering.
  • FMP Facilities Maintenance Professional from The Association of Facility Engineering & IFMA.

Background

Davis spent over 20 years in healthcare, 15 on the maintenance side and the last six as a construction manager. Davis came to SC State in 2009 as the capital projects manager and helped complete the Engineering Computer Science Building, Davis Hall, Lowman Hall Historic renovation and Transit Research Center on time and under budget.  In early 2011, he was promoted to Director of Facilities and Planning & Construction. Davis has served as AVP since 2021. 

Davis is married to Wendy Davis, a former student at State. Together they have four kids and six grandkids. They both love working out early in the morning, the mountains, and the lake. Davis spent 14 years coaching high school football and basketball. He attends Elevation Church, and loves supporting the Bulldogs and Tigers.
