Melanie R. Briggman

As the Administrative Manager with 1890 Extension, Briggman ensures the day-to-day business operations of the 1890 Extension Administrative and Regional Offices runs smoothly, developing and improving administrative processes, and ensuring the adequate flow of information throughout an organization. She is the 2022-2023 parliamentarian for the University Staff Senate. I have worked on such SC State committees as the University Catalog Committee and Presidential Inaugural Committee. She has served on a focus group conducted by the market research consultants from Ruffalo Noel Levitz, a national consulting firm for higher ed institutions.

Background

Briggman has worked at SC State University since 1999. She started as an administrative specialist II in the School of Applied and Professional Sciences. In 2004, the university restructured the schools into four colleges, and she moved to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Faculty and Programs Office as an administrative assistant. She also has worked with the director of 1890 Adult Leadership & Community Development, 1890 Research director, and as the administrative coordinator to interim vice president for research and economic development/executive director of 1890 Programs before becoming the administrative manager.

Her hobbies include gardening, interior designing and volunteering. She is the chairperson of Prodigal Community Outreach Program in Swansea, SC, member of Richland County Alumnae Chapter (RCA) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and member of South Carolina Association of Extension Administrative Professionals (SCAEAP).
