Nasrollah Hamidi

Dr. Nasrollah Hamidi serves as a full-time professor of chemistry. His area of expertise includes synthesis and characterization of polymers, and depolymerization and recovery of waste plastics.

Education

  • Ph.D. Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(dialkyl phenyl methacrylate)s (Distincción Maxima, 1983-1988)
  • B.Sc. Universidad de Chile (1979-1983)
  • B.Sc. Pars College, Persia, Sciences: Chemistry Major, Physics Minor (1974-1978)

Background

Dr. Hamidi has synthesized over a dozen of poly acrylate and methacrylate, and characterized them in solution by density, viscosity, GPS, light-scattering, and osmometric, and evaluated their thermal properties by DSC and TGA. He also has collaborated and worked in detection of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) in water using EPA methods, and manufacturing carbon composite materials for high temperature environments. He has served as PI/PD in several successful Evans-Allen projects during the past decade, and he worked as a participant faculty in HBCU-UP/NSF project and co-PI in Minority Leadership Program. He has published over hundred peer reviewed publications, and conference presentations.
