Patrick Harwood

Patrick Harwood has been a communications instructor at SC State since 2014.

Background

Harwood began teaching at SC State in the Fall 2014 semester. Previously, Harwood taught in the Department of Communication at the College of Charleston. He also worked for 12 years in public relations at CofC. Before that, he was a television news journalist at stations in Virginia, North Carolina, Louisiana and Charleston, S.C. Harwood also gained experience as a broadcast journalist in Chicago and Washington DC while at Northwestern University where he earned his master's degree in journalism. 

Publications

Harwood has written five books, mostly recently (released October 2022) "Stories from the Underground: The Churchyards of Charleston." His previous books have also been about cemeteries, as well as bird and nature photography.
