Theresa Butori

Dr. Theresa Butori serves as the  Instructional Designer for the Center for Online and Distance Education. She provides course design consultations and Quality Matters reviews for CODE. She has facilitated and updated the Advanced Online Teaching workshop here at SCSU. Butori assists faculty members with building hybrid and online courses in Blackboard Learn, assessments/grades and using rubrics, and teaching online best practices. She also plans and facilitates webinars for faculty members.

Background

Butori, originally from Chicago, joined the Center for Online and Distance Education (CODE) during the 2020 pandemic, where she played a vital role in building online courses in Blackboard alongside course developers. After a brief absence, she returned to the same role, continuing her valuable contributions to the online education initiatives at South Carolina State University.

Before her time at SC State, Butori gained experience at various educational institutions. She worked at the University of North Georgia and Anderson University in Anderson, SC, where she contributed as a part-time math instructor. Additionally, she has worked for major fully online universities like Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and Western Governors University.
