| Description of Duties: | |||||
Major responsibilities will be to teach Adapted Physical Education, Aquatics, and/or Dance, as well as other professional preparation courses in Physical Education. The person selected may also teach courses in the Personal Wellness component of the general education requirement. This individual would also carry out other activities expected of faculty, including student advisement; professional development; departmental, university and community service activities; and scholarly activity. This is a nine month, tenure track position. |

| Qualifications: | |||||
Earned doctorate in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field from an accredited university, with a minimum of 3 years satisfactory experience in secondary or post-secondary teaching preferred. Individuals who will complete their doctorate within the academic year that have 5 years experience in secondary or post-secondary teaching will be considered. Qualifications in additional professional areas such as Administration, History and Principles, and Aquatics desirable. Experience in teaching Personal Fitness and Wellness classes also desired. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Willingness to work as a contributing member on university committees. Demonstrated abilities to conduct and report quality research and obtain research grants required. |

| Special Requirements: | |||||
Applicant must be committed to undergraduate education, possess excellent communication skills, and possess a personal concern for the academic success and wellness of all students. Satisfactory experience in public school physical education desirable. South Carolina Teaching Certification, or completion of state-required Praxis tests for Physical Education within first year. |
