SCSU Position Description

The Chair is responsible for academic leadership to the department and reports to the Dean of the College of Business and Applied Professional Sciences. A commitment is required to providing high quality instructional programs by increasing student enrollments across programs, recruiting and maintaining high quality faculty, promoting research and scholarly activity; securing external funds for departmental activities, and interacting with internal and external stakeholders. The Chair is responsible for planning and budget management for the department. The department offers undergraduate degree programs in management and marketing. The department also includes a strong component of Leadership and Professional Development of students.

Qualifications include an earned Ph.D. degree in one of the business disciplines (management, marketing, finance, MIS, etc.), five successful years of teaching experience in higher education; record of refereed publications and other scholarly activity; academic administrative experience; a record of securing external funds and mentoring faculty and students. Experience with the accreditation process of AACSB International is desired.

Excellent Leadership, interpersonal skills and communication skills are expected.
