The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at South Carolina State University is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Nutrition and Food Management program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association. The Child Development Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The success in attaining these accreditations is a testament to the high quality of our programs. The department offers undergraduate degrees in two program areas: Nutrition and Food Management, and Family and Consumer Sciences Business, which has three options – Child Development, Fashion Merchandising, and Multidisciplinary.

Child Development Learning Center
The South Carolina State University Child Development Learning Center (CDLC) is a full day pre-school program, enrolling children between the ages of two and four years old. The only nationally accredited pre-school program in Orangeburg County, the CDLC is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
