The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at South Carolina State University is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The accreditation of South Carolina State University's Nutrition Option of the Didactic Program in Dietetics has been placed on probationary status by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Child Development Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The success in attaining these accreditations is a testament to the high quality of our programs. The department offers undergraduate degrees in two program areas: Nutrition and Food Management, and Family and Consumer Sciences Business, which has three options – Child Development, Fashion Merchandising, and Multidisciplinary.

Staley Building is located to the left of the Ticket Office and to the right of Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
