Welcome to the Department of Nursing at South Carolina State University. Currently, the Department of Nursing is undergoing transition with its pre-licensure nursing programs. These include the generic and LPN to BSN programs. Both of these programs will close, effective December 31, 2014. We will continue to offer the RN to BSN Completion Program, which will begin in the Summer 2014. We will begin accepting applications for enrollment in the Spring Semester 2014, which begins in January.
We appreciate your interest in our nursing program. As our patient population becomes more diverse, it’s an exciting time to be a professional nurse. Even though RNs continue to work in hospital settings, exciting career opportunities exist in other areas such as home health, occupational health, school and college nursing, family practice, homeless shelters, long-term care facilities, parish nursing, correctional facilities, hospice, free-standing urgent care centers, and community or public health. Our RN to BSN Completion Program is designed to meet the needs of RNs in South Carolina as well as neighboring states.
Additionally, nurses may opt to advance their education to master’s and doctoral levels, and become prepared as nurse practitioners, nurse educators, clinical nurse specialists, nurse midwives, nurse anesthetists, nursing administrators, consultants and entrepreneurs. Our nursing education focuses on continued development of skills to advance nursing practice. Our faculty members are expert teachers and clinicians who are committed to student mentoring, teaching, and coaching. We will offer both full and part-time study options to meet individual student needs. Again, welcome to the South Carolina State University RN to BSN Completion Program. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you!
