The Assessment Center, managed by the Department of Educational Technology Services (ETS), provides a proctored environment and services for the administration of course tests, common exams, and institutional requirements via e-learning technology (Blackboard™). The Assessment Center is located in the lower level of Nance Hall (Room B-117). The Assessment Center is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday.
The Assessment Center staff is prepared to deliver development, training, and support services for e-learning assessment initiatives and encourage inquiries about using these services to contact ETS. This department strives to promote quality teaching and learning, academic integrity, and the effective use of technology, as well as excellent customer service. Staff is available to assist instructors on:
- Implementing and accessing the assessment components of Blackboard™. This includes the process of developing your course on Blackboard, logging on to this course, and navigating the tools available.
- Incorporating publisher test banks, questions pools, and/or creating customized assessments, as well as readings, images, PowerPoint™ presentations, and audio/video streams.
- One-on-one training or groups sessions focusing on the assessment features, functions and options of Blackboard™. This includes understanding various modes of presentation for assessments (True/False, Either/Or, Matching, Multiple Choice questions, etc.; displaying one question at a time or all displaying all questions; developing random assortments of questions delivery to ensure each students has a different test).
- Understanding automatic assessment features in Blackboard™, including instant feedback to students and instructors on assessment results, grading options and links to the course grade book.
- Migrating previous course materials to current courses.
- Addressing concerns on the use of copyrighted materials, policies, distribution of handouts, and communications.
