Continuing Education
The Continuing Education Program of the University permits non-degree-seeking applicants to enroll for courses as special students.
Dual Enrollment /High School Student
Academically outstanding high school students who are interested in undergraduate courses to fulfill high school requirements or begin working towards a college degree
GED Applicants
Students who completed their General Education Development program and have successfully passed their subject examinations.
Health Examination
A medical history and physical examination are required of every student. No new student will be permitted to enroll in the University until this record is completed.
High School Counselors
Counselors who are advising high school students for traditional college or dual enrollment admission can find information here
Home Schooled
Students who were educated in a home school environment where parents or tutors provide a learning environment as an alternative to publicly-provided schools.
International Students
Students who are not a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
New Freshman
Students who have (or will have) graduated from high school and never enrolled in a college or university, unless during dual enrollment in high school
Notice of Acceptance
A letter of acceptance, acceptance form and other materials are sent to applicants whose credentials are acceptable for admission or readmission to the University.
Readmit Students
Students who previously attended SC State but have not completed any coursework at SC State for at least one semester
Senior Applicants
Students who are 60 years of age or older and are South Carolina residents who wish to enroll in various classes
Special Students
The special student classification is designed for persons who want to take college courses but who have no interest in pursuing a degree.
Transfer Students
Students who graduated from high school and have attended a regionally accredited college or university
Transient Students
Students who are enrolled at a regionally accredited institution in the United States and wish to attend SC State for credits towards a degree back at their home institution
