SBDC to hold QuickBooks Training Workshop for small businesses

Thursday, June 26, 2014

The SC State Region Small Business Development Center (SBDC), located on the SC State University campus, will host an interactive QuickBooks Training Workshop on Thursday, June 26 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Third Floor Development Room (353), Belcher Hall.

QuickBooks is a popular accounting software for small businesses.

Among the topics covered, the workshop will educate participants on managing their business using QuickBooks and using the software for job costing, which allows a business owner totrack expenses for a job and then compare those expenses to the job's revenue.

Erin Long, CPA, MBA, of Erin Long Accounting and Consulting, LLC, will facilitate the workshop. Long, who owns the small business company in Chapin, S.C., is a certified QuickBooks Pro advisor and acts as the chief financial officer for many of her clients.

SC State’s SBDC provides business consultant strategies in the areas of marketing, business plan development, financial management assistance, video conferencing, business education and training for seven counties throughout the Orangeburg area. The center supports the start-up and growth of small businesses through on-going training, workshops and specialized consulting services.

Space is limited and a non-refundable registration fee of $25 is required by June 25 to attend. While a limited number of computers will be available for participants to use during the workshop, attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops. Free samples of QuickBooks will be available for download.
