Annual SC State Homecoming Week Blood and Bone Marrow Drive
Sponsored by SC State’s student organizations and Brooks Health Center
Thursday, Oct. 25
Kirkland W. Green Student Center, SC State campus
In the southeastern United States, American Red Cross blood donations come from only one percent of African Americans who are age-eligible to give blood.
African Americans are at greater risk than Caucasians for cancer, heart disease and birth complications – all often requiring blood transfusions.
SC State’s student organizations, in partnership with the Brooks Health Center, hold blood and bone marrow drives during Homecoming Week to contribute to the blood supply of the American Red Cross and educate students and the community on the need for blood donation and bone marrow registration.
