SC State holds 4th Annual Blood Battle

Who: SC State University

What: SC State and Benedict College are partnering with the American Red Cross to host the 4th annual Blood Battle: “You can make a difference.”

When: Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at 11a.m. - 5p.m.

Where: In the Bulldog Lounge, K W. Green Student Center

Why: This year’s blood battle is being held in honor of Kendall Givens, two year old daughter of Edwin Givens, SC State alumnus, ‘85 and special assistant to the president for legal and governmental affairs at the University. Kendall was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia in May 2008. Kendall and others in need of blood will benefit from the donations.
Additionally, the winning team will receive the coveted blood trophy on Sept. 6 at the Benedict College vs. SC State football game. Currently the blood trophy is housed at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. SC State is looking to regain the trophy during this year’s blood battle.
