CEO of Consolidated Planning, Lewis D. Burns speaks at SC State

Lewis BurnsSC State will host executive speaker Lewis D. Burns, CEO of Consolidated Planning, Inc., in Columbia, S.C. Burns discussion topic will be, “Real Estate Investments & Career Opportunities in the Industry” on Wed. Nov 5th, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) in Belcher Hall Auditorium (fourth floor).

 

Burns received his bachelor of science degree in Insurance Risk Management and Business Management from the University of South Carolina (USC), in Columbia, S.C.


Burns worked at Travelers Insurance Company (TIC), which offers a wide variety of property and casualty insurance and surety products and services to businesses, organizations and individuals in the United States and in select international markets. He served as a group sales representative and also managed the Charlotte Small Group Office in Charlotte, N.C., that is comprised of [Microsoft Partners, system builders, IT consultants and small business server end users.] As a representative at TIC, he was responsible and assisted with revenue increasing from $2.5 million to $5.6 million within two years.


He also was an account executive with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. In 1995 after opening the Spartanburg, S.C. office, he was named as the # 1 salesperson for Companion Life Insurance Company, which is a subsidiary of (BCBS).


In 1996, Burns started Consolidated Planning, a mortgage company, which offers a full service, hands on approach as a financial partner with clients. It also promotes competitive rates, flexibility, prompt return and a personal commitment to providing the highest level of service.

In 2004, Burns was appointed as chairman of the mortgage advisory committee for the state of S.C. and he currently serves as chairman of Consolidated Planning. He was also appointed to the Family Shelter Board in the summer of 2006.


Burns has held licenses in health and life insurance, mortgage broker and national security.


Currently he is licensed with over 20 insurance companies and over 15 mortgage companies, including Wachovia, Countrywide, Chevy Chase and Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises, Inc.

Burns states that his personal objective is to heighten public awareness of issues pertaining to credit education and elevation, debt elimination, and how to borrow responsibly in hopes of achieving the progressive realization of obtaining affordable housing.


Burns is widely known as “The Mortgage Physician.” He participates in numerous speaking engagements and radio talk shows to promote home ownership and creating financial security to ultimately empower the greater Columbia, S.C. community.
