The Disability Enhancement Program at SC State University will conduct a “Lunch and Learn” Training Session at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010. The session will be held in the Fine Arts Center’s Barbara A. Vaughan Recital Hall, located on the campus of SC State University.
The “Lunch and Learn” Training Session is designed to increase the awareness and support for faculty, staff and administrators as they meet the academic needs of students with disabilities. The program assists with the development, training and technical assistance of students, along with providing valuable and resourceful teaching methods to enhance student achievement.
The speaker for the “Lunch and Learn” Training Session will be Porsche Brown-Battle, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist at Heartland of Columbia, a prominent skilled nursing facility in Columbia, S.C.
Brown-Battle’s discussion topic will be: “Assisting Students with Hearing Impairments.”
Brown-Battle received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from SC State University. She aspires to pursue her doctoral degree in education with a focus on speech pathology in the near future.
Brown-Battle is also a member of the South Carolina Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SCSHA) and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Brown-Battle resides in Lexington, S.C. with her husband Lennie Battle and three sons, Caleb, Jaleel and DreQuane.
