SC State University’s Small Business Development Center will host a free education and training seminar for individuals interested in starting a business. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor development room of Belcher Hall, located on the campus of SC State. During the seminar, participants will learn how to structure their business, know their credit history, and research start-up costs.
The education and training seminar will be hosted by SC State’s economic development consultants Sylvia Dunning and Pamela Free. “An important element of starting a business is to first be sure that you are prepared for entrepreneurship,” states Dunning. “More than half of new businesses fail within the first five years; therefore, we want to ensure that all of our participants are well prepared.”
Participants will also learn key elements for starting their own business and how to keep it thriving. “We will discuss all of the elements that potential business owners need to be aware of when planning to start their own business,” says Free. “Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to determine if entrepreneurship is for them.”
