SC State's Small Business Development Center Sponsors another Education and Training Seminar

Monday, June 07, 2010

SC State University’s Small Business Development Center will sponsor a tax workshop on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The workshop will be held in the third floor development room of Belcher Hall, located on the campus of SC State University. Presenters from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the SC Department of Revenue (DOR) and the SC Employment Security Commission (ESC), will offer guidance on record keeping, types of business entities, tax schedules and employment taxes. There will also be a discussion on employee classification, or employee versus independent contractors.

John Goodwin, regional director for the Small Business Development Center, says that this tax seminar is significant for every business owner. “Taking out a day for this tax seminar may be the best investment in time that you can make,” says Goodwin. “Increase your knowledge about a subject that will prevent your business from falling into the IOU tax trap.”
