SC State’s I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium (The Stanback) Friends are excited to present “Can Art Change the World,” anart panel discussionbased on “Images of the Unimaginable: Art.” Art panelistswill discuss whether various types of art can have a positive effect on the world. This event will be held onFriday, Nov. 19, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at The Stanback, located on the campus of SC State University.
“Images of the Unimaginable: Art” encompasses social comment art by some of the most interesting artists, some of whom will serve on the art panel. Artists in the exhibition include: Camille Billops, John Biggers, Sandra Brett, Schroeder Cherry, Kevin Cole, Stephen Crall, Tolulope Filani, Tyrone Geter, Vanessa German, Derry Leon Gordon, David Marion Green, Jesse Guinyard, Jr., Damond Howard, Doris Colbert Kennedy, Janet Kozachek, Kimberly LeDee, Viktor Lowenfeld, Frank Martin, Richard Mayhew, Wendell Simons, Leo Twiggs, Colin Quashie, Jonathan Walsh, Hale Woodruff and Ellen Zisholtz.
A reception with the art panelists will immediately take place after the discussion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear nice music melodies on the lawn hosted by The Stanback’s student friends. “Music on the Lawn” will feature live music by SC State students. This event will celebrate the Stanback’s educational programs, exhibitions and cultural opportunities that enrich the overall student body experience.
