SC State University Concludes Black History Month with 115th Founders’ Day Ceremony

SC State University will conclude Black History Month with a variety of activities, including the 115th Founders’ Day Ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at 4 p.m. in the Smith-Hammond- Middleton (SHM) Memorial Center. Dr. M. Christopher Brown II, president of Alcorn State University in Lorman, Miss. will serve as keynote speaker of the Founders’ Day Ceremony. The following activities will take place during the final week of Black History Month:

Ceremony honoring Dr. Terry K. Hunter, executive director, Fine Arts Cultural Enrichment Teaching Studios (FACETS), and former professor of Art at SC State, 1977-2000. Dr. Hunter will present a slide-show lecture of his work and sign catalogs from his retrospective “The Grid Turns the Corner,” on exhibit at the I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium. “The Grid Comes Full Circle,” Dr. Hunter’s student work from SC State, Claflin and FACETS, will also be on exhibit in the Fine Arts Center Gallery.
