Felton Laboratory School to Induct 20 Into Little Ladies Club

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Felton Laboratory School, located on the campus of SC State University, will host the First Ladies Little Ladies Club, encouraged by the University’s first lady, Diane S. Cooper.  This year’s First Ladies Little Ladies Club induction will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 6 p.m. in Felton Laboratory School’s Gymnasium. The club was initiated in 2009 by then eighth grade student Oshia Smalls, who served as Miss Felton Laboratory School 2009-2010, along with her social studies teacher and club coordinator, Mary Ravenell.  Ravenell and Dr. Loretta Leaphart, director of Felton Laboratory School, are proud to present the 20 young ladies that make up the group ranging from ages nine to 13.

“Upon organizing this group, we knew of the importance of establishing a solid foundation for our girls at a young age,” stated Ravenell, who stresses that the little ladies exhibit characteristics of respect, organization, manners and responsibility.  “When our little ladies exhibit the core values of the group, they initiate the personalities and characteristics displayed by their mothers, grandmothers, mentors and teachers,” she added.
