On Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, SC State University business majors will hear from executive speaker Jameel Allen, '01, sales and marketing manager of the Corporate Sales Board for Fluor Corporation, one of the world’s leading and largest engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance service companies headquartered in Houston, Texas. He will speak on the topic, “Business Marketing Coming of Age: Innovative Approaches,” at noon in Belcher Hall’s fourth floor auditorium.
Prior to being named to his current position in July 2011, Allen held numerous positions in sales and global operations for Fluor Corporation. He has served as program manager for the domestic industrial O&M Business Unit and as a sales coordinator for the Global Services North American East Region. Allen has also served in various capacities in field and regional offices and has worked on assignments in the power, global services and government business groups.
Prior to his current position, Allen also served as the country deputy manager for Project Development and Capture Management in Afghanistan. He spent a year leading a team of engineers and other business professionals while stationed in Kandahar and Kabul.
In his new role, Allen is responsible for all sales and marketing coordination activities for the Corporate Sales Board. This includes overhead and administrative responsibilities, quarterly and year-end new award reporting for the corporation, along with interfaces and coordination of portfolio assignments (Marketing Services and Production, development and training of sales personnel, commercial consulting and client events). He serves as the corporate leader for Fluor’s Knowledge Management Sales and Marketing Community and coordinates strategic activities sponsored by the Corporate Sales Board. Allen also works closely with the senior management team on special portfolio assignments.
Allen is active in a variety of professional and business organizations. He is a member of Arizona State University Alumni MBA Advisory Council and was recently elected as chair of the Board of Visitors at SC State University. He is also a member of the United Way African American Leadership Council (Greenville, S.C.), a member of the 100 Black Men of America and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Allen received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SC State University and the MBA degree from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He has also completed other management programs at Fluor Corporation.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Allen currently resides in Houston, Texas.
