SC State’s National Society of Pershing Rifles to Host Eighth Annual JROTC Drill Competition

For the eighth straight year, SC State University’s National Society of Pershing Rifles will host the JROTC Drill Competition on Saturday, Mar. 2, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drill competition will take place in the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium located on the campus of SC State. Ten high schools in the state of South Carolina will compete in 13 events to include, six regulation events, six trick drill events and best individual drill. The overall winner will receive a trophy.

The purpose of the National Society of Pershing Rifles is to develop the highest degree possible, outstanding traits of leadership, military science, military bearing, and discipline within the framework of a military oriented, honor fraternity. Company Kilo, of the 4th Regiment (K-4) was formed on the campus of South Carolina State College (SC State University) on December 14, 1966.
