Frequently Asked Questions

Transcripts

All transcript requests must be processed via Parchment by the student. See link below for instructions
http://www.scsu.edu/admissions/registrarsoffice/transcripts.aspx

How will I know when my transcript has been mailed?

You will receive notification from Parchment or you may contact the Registrarís Office by calling 803-536-8418

What is the difference between an official transcript and an unofficial transcript?

All Parchment Transcripts are official unless you open the transcript. Once the transcript is opened, it is Unofficial. All transcripts bear the University Seal and Signature of the Registrar. It provides only the record information recommended by the American Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).

Who has access to my academic record?

Only the student and others authorized by the student. SCSU officials, who demonstrate a "legitimate educational interest" to the Registrar, in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), may also access academic records.

There is a "hold" on my record. What can I do?

Once you request your transcript via Parchment, you will be notified by the Registrar's Office of the hold. After notification, you must contact the department that placed the hold on your record, i.e. Collections, Loans, etc. If you are unsure who placed the hold on your record, contact the Transcript Department at (803) 536-8418. Current and recently enrolled students may check for Holds on Bulldogs Connection Online.
