SCSU Position Description

South Carolina State University, Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering Technology invites applications for two (2) tenure-track faculty positions in transportation. The position is expected to be filled at the Assistant Professor level, however, outstanding candidates will be considered at other levels. Applicants should have a strong background in analytical modeling and quantitative analysis. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, transportation systems modeling, traffic operations and control, demand and supply analysis, transportation logistics, transportation planning, information technology, applications of artificial intelligent techniques to transportation problems, and large-scale network optimization and simulation.

Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in Transportation, Civil Engineering or related field. Dedication to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and service, and evidence of scholarly achievements are required. Professional registration and academic or practical experience are desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and supervise an externally funded program of independent research, teach graduate transportation courses, and interact with department faculty in other areas of Transportation and Civil Engineering.
