South Carolina State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Executive Vice President reports directly to the President, and serves as the chief operating officer of the University in the absence of the President. South Carolina State University, founded in 1896, has maintained a legacy of excellence in education. South Carolina State University, a historical black university, was founded as a land-grant college with a mission of providing education and service to the citizens of the State. The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs will play a major role in providing the vision and leadership to a diverse faculty while sustaining the institutional momentum achieved during the past few years and guiding the University to the next level in its development. The Executive Vice President will be expected to lead across the full breadth of the academic mission, including curriculum, instruction, research and scholarly activity, and public service. The Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs supervises the Associate Vice Presidents for Academic, Deans of the Colleges, Dean of the Library, the Summer School and the Educational Technology Services. |

| Qualifications: | |||||
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate or terminal professional degree from a regionally accredited institution; professional achievements sufficient to gain the respect of the academic community; at least five years of successful experience in senior level academic leadership; and a leadership style characterized by openness, trust, collegiality and creativity. The Executive Vice President uses a data driven analytical approach to program evaluation and development, allocation of resources, and establishment of priorities for the academic affairs division. Prior experience in program and/or institutional accreditation is required. The University has a storied history of providing excellent teacher education in addition to outstanding programs in business, engineering technology, and a strong liberal arts curriculum in the sciences and humanities. The institution's Carnegie Classification is a Doctoral/Research University Intensive; it enrolls 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students, and employs approximately 400 staff and 350 faculty members. Located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the campus is within two hours drive of numerous cultural and recreational opportunities in the cities of Charleston, Columbia, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Greenville and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
