| Description of Duties: | |||||
The successful candidate develops policies and procedures for Historical Collection materials; cultivates relationships with donors and encourages and oversees the transfer of donated materials; publicizes the Historical Collection; accessions, arranges, describes, preserves and provides access to Historical Collection materials, including the creation of MARC records and finding aids; serves as a resource for the University and external communities on preservation issues and provides assistance when requested; initiates proposals to generate funding and manages the resulting projects; provides bibliographic instruction classes for the Historical Collection and participates in University 101 instruction; supervises full-time paraprofessional staff, student assistants, interns and volunteers. |

| Qualifications: | |||||
An MLS from an ALA accredited library school with advanced training in archival specialization and management or graduate degree in History with an archival specialization, and experience in processing archival collections and outreach programs, services and activities is required. MS Office, computer literate, speaking, writing, and communication skills are required. Knowledge of digitization and copyright issues is required. The ability to administer, organize, evaluate, publicize collection, prepare reports, seek funding and write proposals for grants; knowledge of MARC records; and proficiency with scanning equipment is preferred. |
