ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State bowling team travels to Norfolks, Va. to participate in the two-day (Jan. 20-21) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division, featuring five of the league’s team.
Joining the Lady Bulldogs in the competition are Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, host Norfolk State and North Carolina A&T.
Coach Horace Garrison’s team, 19-13 overall, is coming off a strong showing at last week’s MEAC Round-up at High Point, NC, where the Lady Bulldogs compiled an impressive 8-4 record, including a victory over 11th ranked Morgan State.
In last week’s competition, only Bethune-Cookman (10-2) and Maryland-Eastern Shore (7-3), both nationally ranked, and North Carolina A&T (9-3) finished ahead of SC State in the 11-team field.
Making up this year’s Lady Bulldog squad are seniors LaTisha Jefferson, Yvonne Johnson and Crystal Limehouse, a walk-on, junior Laura Garrison and freshmen Darcie Evans and Marisa Hicks.
Garrison led the way for SC State last week with a 170.67 pin fall average, followed by Jefferson, 166.33; Hicks, 163.33; Evans, 161.71; and Johnson, 148.40. Limehouse, in her debut, competed in just one game and bowled a 157.00.
