SC State’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business was recently named premier chapter for the 2009-2010 year.
Gaining membership into Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition business students anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International. The Society’s mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.
More than 85 percent of the eligible SC State students accepted invitations to become life members of Beta Gamma Sigma, making SC State a premier chapter of the distinguished honor society.
As a premier chapter, SC State will qualify to receive a $500 scholarship through the BGS matching funds scholarship program. Additionally, SC State will be given the opportunity to nominate a BGS chapter advisor for the 2011 Outstanding Chapter Advisor award program and to apply for consideration as a 2011 outstanding chapter where additional scholarships will be awarded.
In April 2010, SC State’s College of Business and Applied Professional Sciences inducted 23 students and two faculty members into Beta Gamma Sigma.
