Benita K StoddardBenita K. Stoddard was recently appointed associate director for Operations at the Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, Va. As associate director for Operations, Stoddard is responsible for the day-to-day organization, direction, and coordination of all administrative functions of the medical center.


Prior to assuming her current position, Stoddard was assigned as the administrator of the Waco VA Medical Center in Waco, TX where she managed regulatory compliance, fiscal operations, human resources, and significant capital structure improvements in an integrated health care system with over 920 employees.


Stoddard began her VA career in 1998 at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, S.C. as the social work trainee. While in Columbia, S.C., she held positions of increasing responsibility, to include: clinical social worker, administrative officer for primary care and sub-specialty medicine, and advanced clinical access coordinator.


In 2005, Stoddard joined the staff of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C. as executive assistant to the Medical Center director. During her tenure there, she fulfilled the collateral roles of facility planner, strategic planner and VA/DoD coordinator. In 2007, Stoddard was selected for the position of health systems specialist at the VA Heart of Texas Health Care Network (VISN 17) where she provided VISN-wide oversight and management of workforce development, customer service, and staff support to the VISN Executive Leadership Council.


Stoddard is a native of S.C. She received a Bachelor of Social Work from SC State University, a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Health Administration from Baylor University. Stoddard is board certified as a fellow in the American College of Health Executives. She is a 2008 graduate of the VHA Health Care Leadership Institute, and is a member of the 2009 Executive Career Field Candidate Development Program.
