Gov. Mark Sanford today appointed Dr. Jackie Epps of Columbia to the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees.
“Dr. Epps has a stellar record of success in the corporate sphere, having overseen the development of an array of products for Kraft and General Foods, and I have every reason to believe he’ll bring the same insight and eye for efficiency to South Carolina State’s Board of Trustees,” Gov. Sanford said. “Many government agencies and institutions across South Carolina have had to readjust the way they do things in these tough economic times, and South Carolina State has been no exception. In that regard we think Dr. Epps will bring a fresh perspective, and I’d simply thank him for his willingness to serve and the dedication he’s shown over many years to both the University and the state as a whole.”
Dr. Jackie Epps, 62, received his education at South Carolina State University (B.S.) and Rutgers State University (M.S., Ph.D.). He has directed a number of multi-million dollar projects for General Foods and Kraft Foods, and has several domestic and international scientific patents to his name. In recent years, he has served his alma mater, South Carolina State University, as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Career Center Director. He also served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971.
