They were recognizedat the 2010 Golden Key International Honour Society Conference recently held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
SC State’s Golden Key International Honour Society is well on their way to achieving the highest reporting standards in the Society. The local campus chapter has made significant gains in community service efforts, such as tutoring and mentoring to students in area elementary schools. This year, chapter members purchased t-shirts for the students that participated in SC State’s Youth Day, a program which introduces high school students to the institution.
Founded in 1977 on the campus of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga., the Golden Key International Honour Society is the world’s premier collegiate honor society, with nearly two million members and over 375 chapters across the United States and around the globe. The global non-profit organization not only provides academic recognition, but also leadership opportunities, community service, career networking and scholarships. The society has nearly 350 chapters at colleges and universities in the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa.
SC State’s Golden Key International Honour Society was chartered on April 28, 2001. Since then, the chapter has been committed to high academic achievement, community service, service learning, leadership and excellence. During this nine-year period, the SC State Golden Key Chapter has inducted 309 undergraduates and 30 honorary members who represent distinguished administrators, faculty, staff and civic leaders. In 2004, SC State’s Golden Key International Honour Society was also presented the prestigious Key Chapter Award as one of the most outstanding chapters internationally for excellence in five major areas: communication, publicity, meeting management, chapter activities and leadership.
“Since its initial chartering in 2001, the SC State University Chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society has consistently been recognized nationally for its stellar service projects, and for its role in empowerment and uplifting of young people and the less fortunate through educational and cultural outreach.
