SC State Police Department Institutes Campus Mandate

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

The SC State University Police Department wants to offer protection for the entire University family, and you can assist in these efforts. SC State is now implementing a campus wide mandate. If you are occupying any building between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays, and at any hours during the weekends, you are asked to notify individuals of your occupancy. All faculty members must obtain written permission from their appropriate dean or chair, and all staff must contact campus police. The SC State University Police Department must also be contacted upon your exit.

Police chief Michael Bartley says that the new rules are instituted for safety. “This is an extended safety measure for our administration. This is also in place to protect University property,” says Bartley. “Only authorized personnel should be in the University after hours, and it makes our job a lot easier and your surroundings much safer if we are aware of your presence.”

If you are a faculty or staff member occupying any University building during the specified non-traditional hours, contact campus police at (803) 536-7188.
