ESPN.com features SC State’s Bill Hamilton in Black History Month Series

Friday, February 25, 2011

.-“Save the best for Last.” These words ring true with ESPN.com writer Donald Hunt who has recognized many influential sports icons in this year’s Black History Month series on the sports website. It may seem even more ironic that Hunt waited until the culmination of Black History Month to recognize Bill Hamilton, SC State University’s sports information director and a 38-year employee of the institution. However, Hunt has “saved the best for last,” applauding a man who has received numerous accolades, and whose fervor for the SC State athletics program has resulted in the success of many SC State graduates and in the recognition of SC State University through various mediums.

Hamilton, no stranger to recognition, is still humbled by his latest honor. “I feel grateful to have been chosen to be a part of the Black History Month Series,” says Hamilton. I’ve known Donald Hunt for years and he has been a workhorse when it comes to the recognition of players, coaches and staff at HBCU’s.”
