SC State University has begun the search for its next vice president of finance and management. The Committee, chosen and appointed by President George E. Cooper, is comprised of seven members representing SC State’s faculty, staff and the corporate community.
The committee members are: Dr. G. Dale Wesson, SC State’s vice president of research and economic development, who is serving as the committee chairperson; Mr. Edwin D. Givens, Esq., SC State’s chief of staff and general counsel; Dr. Judith Salley-Guydon, SC State’s chairperson for the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences; Ms. Renia Edwards, SC State’s athletics academic enhancement coordinator; Mr. John Smalls, SC State’s acting vice president for finance; Mrs. Lessie Price, manager of government operations at URS, Inc. and Mr. James Swan, controller at SCANA Corporation.
Search Committee Milestones and Timeline
Week of August 15th
The top candidates will be interviewed via telephone. Immediately following the interview, the candidate pool will be narrowed to approximately three or four.
Week of August 29th
The top three of four candidates will be invited to SC State’s campus for scheduled interviews.
Week of September 5th
The names of the top three candidates (unranked) will be forwarded to President Cooper.
Week of September 12th
The vice president for finance at SC State will be named.
“As charged by President Cooper, the search committee will work swiftly, yet deliberately to assess the applications received in an effort to move this most important process along, which is to identify and ultimately hire the next person who will be responsible for the management of the fiscal affairs of our University,” said Dr. G. Dale Wesson.
