ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State basketball teams travel to Hampton, Va. Saturday where they will face Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader, which gets underway at 4 p.m. with the women’s contest. The men’s contest will follow at 6 p.m.

Both games may also be heard on the SC State campus station, WSSB (90.3 FM).
The SC State men (11-15, 9-7 MEAC), winners of their last two contests, will be trying to win three consecutive games for the first time this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 76-65 victory over Coppin State Monday. A week ago, Coach Jamal Brown’s team defeated Morgan State 70-56.
If the Bulldogs are to earn their third straight win for the first time this season, they will have to do it against one of the hottest teams in the MEAC. Hampton (13-13, 9-6 MEAC) has won six of its last seven contests, including a 66-52 triumph over intrastate rival Norfolk State on Wednesday. In an earlier meeting at Orangeburg Jan. 27, the Bulldogs defeated the Pirates 74-63.
On the women’s side, the Lady Bulldogs (7-19, 5-11) will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak, which included a 64-47 setback to league leader Coppin State on Monday.
The Hampton women, meanwhile, have won their last two contests, including a last-second 60-58 triumph over intrastate rival Norfolk State on Wednesday. The Lady Pirates defeated the SC State women 71-66 in Orangeburg earlier and are seeking a sweep of this year’s series.
Following Saturday’s contests, SC State will remain in the Hampton Roads area to face Norfolk State on Monday.
