The  SC  State University Career Center  is expected to draw hundreds of job seekers to its annual Career Day Extravaganza on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center located on the campus of SC State. This event is free and open to the public.

More than 30 businesses -- representing a range of industries from healthcare, law enforcement, education, engineering, aviation and energy -- will be present. Corporations such as Boeing, BMW Manufacturing, Santee Cooper and Microsoft will be on hand to recruit and discuss potential career opportunities with prospective employees.

Aspiring educators who have a passion for education will be able to express their commitment to teaching and learning with employment representatives from school districts across the Southeast.

Students who wish to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees can obtain information from a number of graduate and professional schools including Winthrop University, the University of Georgia, College of Charleston, Norfolk State University and SC State University.

Joseph B. Thomas Jr., director of SC State’s Career Center, is excited about the opportunities that the Career Day Extravaganza has provided to students over the years.

“The annual Career Day Extravaganza provides an excellent opportunity for SC State students, alumni and the Orangeburg community to assemble and secure career opportunities from among leading employers and graduate schools in the country,” says Thomas.

“We have invited fortune 500 companies, state and federal agencies, school systems as well as graduate schools to share information on various career opportunities within their prospective organizations.”
