As Miss Homecoming 2013, senior Megan Frances Diggs will be among the throngs of Bulldogs to welcome home SC State University’s returning “loyal sons and daughters” during the university’s week-long homecoming events. This year’s homecoming kicks off Sunday, Nov. 3 and will run through Sunday, Nov. 10.
“I am truly honored to represent the football team this year during the annual Homecoming events,” says Diggs. “As a member of the women's soccer team, I have gotten to know many football players over the years. I am proud to be a part of their journey to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship, but more importantly, I am ecstatic to serve as the hostess for this annual traditional event for SC State,” Diggs continues.
Diggs, a biology major from Chesapeake, VA, plays the position of midfield on SC State’s women’s soccer team. In 2012, Diggs was named Miss Honors College, serving as the student ambassador for SC State’s Honors College. She is also a member of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The daughter of Ronald and Cynthia Diggs, Diggs is the youngest of three children. In her free time, Diggs loves to relax with friends, exercise and sing. She also enjoys attending church for spiritual growth and development. Diggs plans to graduate in May 2014 and hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy.
With a profound love for SC State University, Diggs says she is proud to represent Bulldog Country and anticipates a favorable outcome for the Bulldogs.
“My favorite kind of entertainment is competitive sport events. I'm looking forward to seeing our football team dominate the field and beat Florida A &M University,” she says.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, SC State University Bulldogs will contend for a win against the Florida A & M University Rattlers at 1:30 p.m. at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium, located on the SC State campus. For ticket information, contact SC State’s Ticket Office at (803) 536-8579.
