SC State to Hold Miss and Mister SC State University Pageant

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – SC State University will hold its annual Miss and Mister SC State University Pageant on Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium on campus. This year’s theme is “Harlem Nights: The Renaissance of SCSU Elegance.”


The event will showcase candidates competing for the titles of Miss and Mister SC State University and candidates vying for class titles. The pageant competition will display the talent, wit, beauty, charm and compassion of the contestants, as they pledge their commitment to the university community and beyond.


The 2019 Miss SC State University candidates are: Victoria Brown, junior biology major; Kayla Hasty, junior biology major and Jaelyn McCrea, junior broadcast communications major. The candidates for Mister SC State are Ezekiel Carter, junior criminal justice major and Charles C. Patton, junior physics major.


“The Miss and Mister SC State University Pageant provides an avenue for young women and men to showcase their talent and compete to serve as the university’s most visible student ambassadors while preserving the legacy of our great institution. Miss and Mister SC State University will galvanize a new strength and spirit for the advancement of both young men and women while positively impacting their communities,” said Dr. Tamara Jackson, vice president for Student Affairs.


Students will be able to vote for the pageant contestants and other class candidates online through Bulldog Connection on Tuesday, April 9, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. A satellite voting station, which will be located in the K.W. Green Student Center, will also be available for casting votes.


The Miss and Mister SC State University pageant is sponsored in part by the Office of Student Life and Leadership.
