SC State Drops Softball Doubleheader to FAMU

ORANGEBURG, SC -- The South Carolina State softball team (3-33) dropped a doubleheader to visiting Florida A&M (11-33) Saturday, losing 6-4 in the first game and 11-2 in the second.

Sade Wilson, one of two Lady Bulldog seniors, recorded a triple and had two runs batted in to lead SC State. Junior Tiffanie Lewis added a double and one RBI for Coach Antonio Smalls’ team.

The visiting Lady Rattlers were paced by senior Nakendra Jones with four hits – 2 singles, a triple and home run – with two RBIs.

In game two, SC State got a double and one RBI from Lewis, and singles from Channel Thompson, Wilson and TaTreka Polite, who also had an RBI.

Florida A&M, in the second contest, got a double and two RBIs from Joyce Harold, a double from Melissa Oliphant, and two singles from Ashley Smith.

On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs split a doubleheader with visiting Winston-Salem State, losing 11-2 in the opener, before coming back for a 5-2 victory in the second game.
