SC State Goes 1-1 at First Day of MEAC Softball Roundup

ORANGEBURG, SC -- South Carolina State split its two games Friday at the three-day Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Roundup in West Columbia, winning 4-0 over Maryland-Eastern Shore before losing 11-3 to Howard.

The Lady Bulldogs, 4-37 overall, will return to action Saturday in a 12 noon contest against Hampton, followed by a 2 p.m. tilt with Delaware State.

In Friday's first contest, SC State was paced in the win by Holly Hill's Emerald Freeman with a two-run homer. TaTreka Polite was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs.

Coach Antonio Smalls' team took a 3-0 lead in the contest but committed a series of errors that led to nine Howard runs and the eventual 11-3 Lady Bison victory. Polite took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs.
