Nationally-Ranked Women’s Tennis Team Edges USC Upstate

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State women’s tennis team, which earlier in the week, broke into the ITA national rankings, improved to 18-5 on the season Saturday with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over USC Upstate.

Freshman Iveta Blodneice defeated USC Upstate’s Vivian Neuenschwander 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at number five singles for the decisive point and victory for Coach Hardeep Judge’s team.

The Lady Bulldogs, who lost the doubles points, also got victories at number one singles from junior Mirian Cruz (7-5, 6-3) over Anna Novo; Marcela Rodezno (6-1, 6-4) over Susana Hernandez at number two singles, and Vesna Popac at number four singles (6-1, 6-0) over Daniela Lovern.
