ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State’s search for a head men’s basketball coach is progressing, according to Bulldog athletics director Charlene M. Johnson. The University has received over fifty (50) applications for the position, Johnson noted.
“We are pleased with the interest that has been expressed in our head men’s basketball coaching position,” Johnson said. “We have received some fifty applications and are moving expeditiously to reduce them to a working number.
“We hope to narrow things down to 6-8 candidates,” continued Johnson, “do some follow up by phone with those candidates, then bring them in for interviews. Our campus, as many of you may know, is hosting the Democratic Party’s national debate later this week (Apr. 26) and we hope to be able to move quickly toward completing the process of hiring our new coach after this big event.”
