SC State Track Teams Vie for MEAC Track Titles

ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State will be among eleven (11) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams vying for championships in track and field Friday and Saturday (May 4-5) at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State in Baltimore, Md.

Opening ceremonies will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m., with the competition to commence immediately after. Mostly field events and preliminary running events will be held Friday, with the finals set to be run Saturday.

Twenty-eight (28) SC State student-athletes are among the participants, which include 15 in the men’s division and 13 in the women’s competition.

Leading the way for Coach Ernest Tche’s teams are sprinter Natalie Dixon and middle distance runner Brittany Strange on the women’s side, along with sprinter Garrett Blakely, hurdler Randy Gooden and the 400-meter relay team on the men’s side, all qualifiers for the NCAA Regional May 25-26 at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The Norfolk State men and Hampton women are defending champions in the event.
