Friday, May 11, 2007

ORANGEBURG – For the first time, SC State’s Miller F. Whittaker Library will host library personnel from around the Palmetto State to share resources and information at a May 18 conference.

The Miller F. Whittaker Library will host the Seventh Annual LIBRIS (Library Resources and Information Sharing) Conference on Friday, May 18, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the fourth floor auditorium of Belcher Hall.

The annual LIBRIS Conference provides an affordable one-day forum for attendees to share ideas that will better enable them to carry out the vision and mission of their libraries throughout South Carolina.

Founded seven years ago as a staff development day for the personnel, the conference has grown into a one-day conference with participation from technical colleges, four-year public and private institutions, the State Library, public libraries and PASCAL (Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries).

Local authors scheduled to attend the conference include Cecil J. Williams (Out of the Box in Dixie); Dr. Bernice W. Stukes-Mose (The Guiding Inspiration of Bernice W. Stukes-Mose); and Dr. Clemmie E. Webber (The College Soda Shop).
