ORANGEBURG – Guidance counselors and educators from South Carolina’s public schools will visit SC State in June as part of a 12-stop tour of the Palmetto State’s public colleges and universities.
SC State will host the guidance counselors on its campus on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. While there, the educators will attend a program, meet with University officials and tour the campus.
“This is a great program for counseling professionals and educators to broaden their knowledge of the public colleges and universities in South Carolina,” said Sylvia Robinson, program manager for SC State’s Office of Admissions, Recruitment and Scholarships. “This presents a valuable opportunity for them to visit SC State’s campus and better understand the many opportunities offered to students through academics and college life.”
Robinson also indicated that the visit provides a way for counselors and educators to familiarize themselves with SC State’s Admissions and Financial Aid processes, interact with current students and have access to other contacts at the institution.
“It will help [the counseling professionals and educators] better understand the clients (i.e. students who are planning to attend college after high school) with whom they work with and allow for more informed referrals to South Carolina’s public colleges and universities, especially SC State,” she added.
