ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State conducted its second day of preseason workouts Monday and the Bulldogs responded to the hot and humid conditions better than they did on opening day, according to head coach Buddy Pough.
“It’s our second day and we continued our installations and working on fundamentals,” Pough said. “We will continue to work through these next two days to make sure we get our offense and defense installed. “I saw some good things on both sides of the football, and surprisingly, most of the players dealt with the heat factor although it was hotter than it was on Sunday. Hopefully, we are getting acclimated to the hot weather and will see improvement in our practices each day.”
Pough didn’t mention any names, but noted that “most of the older guys are running very good and seem to be doing well in their execution.”
The Bulldogs will workout in shorts and shoulder pads on Tuesday and Wednesday, hold their first drill with full pads on Thursday, but not have their first full contact workout until Friday. Daily practices start at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, SC State will conduct its annual “Press and Media Day,” beginning at 9 a.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium
