ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State football team and several other fall sports squads were recognized at the annual campus pep rally sponsored by the Student Government and Campus Activity Board (formerly the Student Union Board) at O.C. Dawson Stadium Tuesday evening.

The event, which kicks off the academic and athletic year, also served as a sort of send-off for Coach Buddy Pough and the football team, who leave Thursday for Colorado Springs, Colorado to face the Air Force Academy in the season opener for both teams. Kickoff for the contest is 2 p.m. EST. The game can be heard on the Bulldog football network (WKQI-FM in Orangeburg) and on Teamline via the University’s new athletics website --

Tuesday’s rally featured performances by the Marching 101, the Champagne Dancers and the Cheerleaders.

Other teams recognized were men’s and women’s golf, soccer and cross country.
