Betty M. Parker, owner of Sharper Development Solutions, Inc., will be the featured speaker on April 9. She will share with students a lecture entitled “Leadership Development for Workplace Success.”

The Executive Speaker Series is a partnership between participating companies and the business program. It supports the college’s mission to provide quality management education and leadership to produce competitive graduates for a global and diverse environment.
Betty M. Parker is a 20-year sales veteran and a presenter who motivates and encourages diverse audiences to develop and enhance their skills in order to grow personally and professionally.
As the proud owner of Sharper Development Solutions, Inc., Parker works to help boost the profitability and productivity of businesses through their people. She trains in the areas of leadership development, communications, negotiations, management, hiring, employee development and motivation, stress management, change management, customer service, and other management competencies.
Parker’s clients include Blue Cross Blue Shield, the State Museum, USC School of Public Health, Columbia College, Black Data Processors Computer Services Corporation, Central Piedmont Community College (Charlotte), Kiwanis International, Riverbanks Zoo, South Carolina Community Bank, All South Federal Credit Union, and Palmetto Health.
Prior to starting Sharper Development Solutions, Inc., Parker worked 17 years for a top global biotechnology company. As a key producer, she sold more than $20 million dollars in pharmaceuticals, receiving multiple awards for peak performance and placing in the top 10 percent of the sales force.
Parker holds a bachelor of arts in Journalism from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. She is the author of a book, “Waging War On Fear: Strategies To Overcome A Scary World”. The book offers seven strategies on how to overcome fear. She is working on a second book, “Are You the Cream or the Crop? Seven Steps to Rising Above Average”.
She is married to Dr. Reginald L. Parker. They are parents to a son, Justice, six and a daughter, Jaden, age four.
The Executive Speaker Series was implemented in the core curriculum of the School of Business in 1996 as a component of the Leadership and Professional development Program, which all business majors are required to complete. The series exposes students to various aspects of the workplace, including viewpoints of leaders who are on the cutting edge of business, industry and government.
