The Nutrition Program at SC State recently received national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). The Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) is American Dietetic Association accrediting agency for education programs that prepares students for careers as registered dietitians or dietetic technicians.
“This accreditation allows the students enrolled in SC State’s nutrition program the opportunity to apply to a (CADE) - accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic Internship), anywhere in the United States,” said Dr. Kimberely McClain, director of Didactic Program in Dietetics.
After being accepted and successfully completing the Dietetic Internship, students are then able to sit for the National Examination for Registered Dietitians, administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
“I am elated and honored that we have been awarded this accreditation,” stated Dr. Kimberely McClain. “We, the faculty and students, worked very diligently to assure that our love, commitment and integrity to our nutrition program and profession remains stable and in existence.”
